Hey, Dreamers! 🧡 It’s been quite a while. A LOT has happened since my last post, so it’s definitely time to hit y’all with a little ✨blog/life update✨ Where do I even begin?
First, SEASON 4 IS OFFICIALLY A WRAP!! 🎬✨ Season 4 has pretty much had at least one episode (sometimes multiple) a week since it launched on September 26, 2025. Today is July 3, 2026… baby, that’s about 280 days, which is a little over 9 months. 9 MONTHS of releasing an episode weekly, all while:
- Still working a demanding full-time night-shift position as a registered nurse in a hospital
- Sleeping weird hours and constantly trying to adjust while battling fatigue
- Taking care of others while trying to build something of my own
- Continuing to build and grow my brand
- Personally handling guest outreach for the podcast
- Continuing to travel and network while trying to maintain relationships amongst an often times overwhelmingly busy schedule
- Updating this website
- Maintaining a home, as well as home ownership tasks and upgrades/updates
- Committing to and navigating personal growth
… not to mention the production that comes with podcast episodes, which I mostly do all by myself. Shewww!! 🥵
With all of that being said, now that Season 4 is complete; here is a look back at where this journey has taken me this past year. Because I was balancing a constant backlog of 30-50 episodes to edit pretty much throughout that entire 9 month period, a lot of content and posting that I wanted to do got neglected. (I’ve never been very good at multi-tasking. 🤦🏽♂️) There was a lot that I wanted to share, but trying to keep up with editing consumed most of my energy. Audio editing is already one of the most time-consuming parts of podcasting. Again, at one point I was juggling a backlog of 30–50 episodes while still trying to release a new episode every week. Looking back, it’s hard to believe I kept it all moving. That was bonkers. 😩
Last Summer, while taking a break from travel nursing and working a local staff position, I took vacation time and commenced on what I called Kevie’s 3-City Trek Tour 2025 for my 35th birthday. During pretty much the course of about a week, I traveled to 3 different cities for 3 different events. Here is where I went, who I met, and what I learned:
FanExpo Chicago 2025: August 15-16, 2025
The trajectory of this entire trip was truly a bit chaotic when I actually reflect on it. I caught a one-way flight to Chicago for FanExpo Chicago, where I would land on a Friday night and spend the day at the following Saturday. There I got to connect with Tom Ruegger, the legendary creator of Tiny Toon Adventures, Animaniacs!, Pinky & The Brain, and Histeria! Tom also has worked on other legendary properties such as Scooby Doo (my personal favorite is A Pup Named Scooby Doo), several Hanna-Barbera animated series such as The Snorks, as well as several WB animated entities such as Taz-Mania and Freakazoid! Nervously, I gave Tom my card and he was actually very flattered. He said that he will check out my podcast, and without me even officially asking, confirmed that he would love to be a guest. 🧡 Although booking him has been quite the challenge, I am still hopeful. God hasn’t let me down yet! 🤞🏽
PodMov — Dallas 2025: August 18-21, 2025
The following morning, I then caught another one-way flight from Chicago; this time to Dallas, TX for 5 days. The occasion? Podcast Movement, often shortened to PodMov. PodMov is the “world’s premier event and platform for podcast creators, industry leaders, and media innovators.” This was the first podcasting event I had ever attended, and the value was immeasurable. Having the opportunity to connect with other like-minded individuals, most of whom are trying to attain and achieve many of the same goals as you are, is priceless. The coolest thing about PodMov for me was getting to meet the founders of PodMatch, Alex Sanfilippo, and Transistor.fm, Justin Jackson, in person. PodMatch has been a great tool for my growth in podcasting, and Transistor.fm is the very hosting platform I use to service my podcast. I now consider Alex to be a friend, and both to be amongst my mentors. My biggest regret from this event is I missed all of the after parties and activities/events outside of the event itself due to my f*cked up circadian rhythm/sleep cycle, thanks to my life as a night-shift nurse. 🙄
Nostalgia Con — Houston 2025: August 22-23, 2025
On the final day of PodMov, I caught another one-way flight that evening from Dallas to Houston, TX. I ended up spending the remainder of my vacation in Houston (my very first time ever visiting there) for my very first Nostalgia Con. Meeting the legendary Cree Summer was originally supposed to be the highlight of this trip, but she ended up cancelling last minute… 😔 This go around to Nostalgia Con would actually be rather uneventful, although looking back, this trip did plant some seeds for future Kevie—the budding entrepreneur.
Nostalgia Con — Houston 2026: April 10-11, 2026
Now that I’ve finally shared the details of my summer travels last year, let’s get into the impromptu 2nd Annual Kevie’s 3-City Trek Tour 2026 that ended up occurring this year as well. (COMPLETELY unintentional, but I don’t regret it at all. I learned so much. 🧡) This trip to Nostalgia Con was last minute. I left the local staff position I was in last year and went back into travel nursing for the 1,842nd time. As a contractor, I work every other weekend. This event just so happened to take place on my scheduled weekend to work, but the line-up was wayyy too FIRE 🔥 for me to be able to pass it up. One of my coworkers ended up trading me shifts (Thank you, Emily!!) so I could go and I’m sooo glad I was able to attend! Here, I got to connect with C.H. Greenblatt (creator of Chowder and Jellystone!), Cherie Johnson (Punky Brewster and Family Matters) and Andrew Lawrence (Brotherly Love and the voice of T.J. Detweiler in Recess). I got a lot of strong leads from this trip. Although booking higher-profile guests is WAYYY more challenging, I’m somebody who doesn’t give up so easily.
WrestleMania & WrestleCon 2026 — Las Vegas, NV: April 16-19, 2026
The difference in the stops during this trip from last year’s trip is they didn’t take place all at once (although they did take place weekend after weekend. 😩) Immediately after returning home from Nostalgia Con — Houston 2026, I worked my three 12’s for the week and then headed out to Vegas for 5 days. During WrestleMania week, I attended WrestleCon and several other networking events. During this trip, I got HELLA leads. I would honestly probably bore y’all if I even tried to list them all out here. 😭 With this trip, I found myself much more comfortable and confident with myself than ever before. I wasn’t afraid to introduce myself, or too shy to invite somebody to come onto my podcast as a guest. After this trip I was a little down on myself because although I was in full pitching mode, I didn’t immediately follow up with anybody because I was still in the thick of a massive editing backlog. By this time it wasn’t 30-50 episodes deep anymore, but it was still at least 10-15+ episodes. As I mentioned earlier, I’m not good at multitasking, and when I start the pitching process I want my full focus to be on that versus still being overwhelmed with editing tasks. That might be something I need to work on…
Baby Shower Shenanigans & Final Boss Con — Rio Grande, OH: April 25-26, 2026
After WrestleMania and WrestleCon, I traveled to Dallas the following weekend for a friend of mine’s baby shower. The crazy thing about that trip was I went to Dallas for about two days and then caught a red eye flight back home immediately after the baby shower so I could attend Final Boss Con back home the following morning. Final Boss Con is a small convention in southeastern Ohio that is extremely close to where I live, and this year they welcomed their biggest guest yet, Rob Paulsen (a notable voice actor, known for many roles including the voice of Yakko from Animaniacs!) Although I have met Rob in the past, I couldn’t pass up this opportunity since Rob was going to be in my neck of the woods. At this point in my life, I’ve never been more comfortable pitching. Rob and I really hit it off, and he was ecstatic when I invited him to be a guest on my podcast. 🙏🏽
Honorable Mention: Bedroom Kandi Social Affair — Atlanta 2026: March 20-22, 2026
And actually, now that I’m thinking of it… there was another trip I took before my second impromptu 3-city trek tour 😩 It was a weekend trip to Atlanta with my cousin Raymond Cousins, in which we attended the Bedroom Kandi Social Affair. We previously attended this event the year prior (also in Atlanta), but again; at this point, I was much more aligned and confident. I came to this event with intention to pitch to Dr. Contessa (Married to Medicine) and Kandi Burruss herself. I didn’t get the chance to pitch to Kandi this year, but connecting with Dr. Contessa was a huge success. There’s always next year!
Final Thoughts
I’ve been hosting and producing my podcast for 4 years now, and with each episode I feel more and more in alignment with its’ mission. Kultivation w/ Kevie is truly an extension of who I am, especially presently. KWK is a storytelling-driven podcast centered on honest conversations about growth, creativity, and identity. Through nostalgia, personal history, and reflection, I invite guests to explore the experiences that shaped them—and how those moments continue to inform who they are today. As I’ve become less afraid of taking risks and taking up space, I’ve become more assured in reaching out to those higher-profile people, and asking for a seat at the table by simply inviting them to my own.
Now that Season 4 is finished, I am taking a much needed break. Having a constant backflow of episodes to edit over the course of 9 months has definitely taken its’ toll on me, and I need to enjoy some time to myself without having any deadlines or pressure. With that being said, I’m already working on Season 5 😂 The difference is, I’m not announcing nor even thinking about a launch date until EVERY. SINGLE. EPISODE. is GOOOOD and edited!! This time around, I don’t want to have to keep playing catch up. I want to be able to actively post, promote, and keep this website updated in the process of episodes being released. 🥲 Thank you for your attention this matter. 😂🧡
One final thing: I have also been working behind-the-scenes on the idea of merch, and hope to have a journal, as well as t-shirts and stickers, available soon!! Stay tuned for that.
